<p>A heating machine for heating an ingot of a metal such as a magnesium alloy has a heating means which may be a RF induction coil 37 capable of swinging about a horizontal axis. The coil is placed horizontal, and the metal ingot is fed into the coil from a side by a material-feeding means. Stoppers prevent the ingot from falling from the RF induction coil when it is switched from its horizontal posture to its vertical posture. The coil is wound on a cylindrical member 35. A rotatable hollow shaft (43, Fig 4) is firmly mounted to the holder in a perpendicular relation to a substantially axially central portion of the cylindrical member. A part of the coil is inserted in the hollow shaft via an insulating material. The rotatable hollow shaft is swung by a swinging mechanism. The induction heating coil is wound on a ceramic holder 101. This holder is made of a nonreactive material and has an outer surface on an induction heating coil is wound, said ingot being accommodated in said holder with a given clearance. The holder has an upper portion and a lower portion. Upper and lower supports, 110, 120 made of a ceramic are fitted over said upper and lower portions respectively of said holder to place it in a position vertically and horizontally.</p> |
