The piston (3) is movable between two positions in a recess in the threaded insert (1) to which a diaphragm (4) susceptible to corrosion is fixed in contact with the liquid. Rearward movement of the piston under reduced pressure is prevented by a grating (5). When the diaphragm becomes ruptured the additional pressure from the liquid drives the coloured tip (6) through a breakable outer seal (8). A magnet (11) built into the tip may operate a reed relay (12) activating an electric alarm.
