Heat-sealable shrink film based on polypropylene, process for making it and its use for shrinkable labels

A novel shrink film which consists of several polyolefinic layers is described. The base layer contains polypropylene and an added resin, and the top layers consist of polyolefinic seal raw materials. The film has a shrinkage of more than 15% in the crosswise direction at 90 DEG C and less than 6% in the longitudinal direction, likewise at 90 DEG C. The novel film is produced by coextrusion and subsequent orientation in the longitudinal and crosswise directions, the longitudinal orientation, however, being carried out in such a way that the value of the birefringence of the longitudinally oriented film, DELTA n, does not exceed the range from 12 to 15 . 10<-><3>.
