Open fire heated water tank - is integral in central heating system with shielded tank constructed in chimney for increased heat absorption

The centre heating system uses, in addition to its normal heat source, the ehat generated by an open fire built in an ornamental chimney in one of the rooms of the house. A water tank is constructed in the passage of the chimney which is fed by water circulating in the central heating pipework. The water entering the tank is heated by the air rising from the fire before being discharged back into the system. A shut off valve is situated before the tank which has a relief valve on its upper surface. A protection plate is situated between the tank lower wall and the open fire to prevent overheating.
