<p>A key cylinder device comprises a key lockable cylinder which can be depressed to extend a member 20 from the cylinder case 12 to operate a lock releasing mechanism (eg for a vehicle boot). Member 20 acts on a lever 16 pivoted to the rear of the case which can actuate the releasing mechanism only when the lever moves relatively to the case and not in response to forced case movement (fig 5). As shown when lever 16 is pivoted by member 20, a portion 16C engages beneath a portion 24C on a lever 24 and the lever 16 also acts to project a pin 32 from lever 24 to engage beneath lock mechanism release lever 36. In a second embodiment (figs 7-11, not shown), lever 24 is omitted and pin 32 is carried on lever 16 and projected by engagement with the case. In a third embodiment (figs 12-15, not shown), lever 36 is pivoted on the case about an axis at right angles to the axis of lever 16 and is directly engaged thereby - but only when the lever 16 pivots relative to the case.</p> |
