PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic composition having a characteristic restricting reduction of proteins, containing a mixture of ceramides. SOLUTION: This cosmetic composition contains a ceramide of formula I (R1 is a 12-30C hydrocarbon) and a ceramide of formula II or III (R2 and R3 are each a 12-30C hydrocarbon). The ceramides mixture contains >=50 wt.% of at least one kind of ceramide of the formula I and <=50 wt.% of at least one kind of ceramides selected from the formulae II and III both based on the whole weight of the ceramides mixture. A concentration of the ceramide mixture is 0.0001-10 wt.% and a concentration of additives such as a thickener, silicone or a surfactant is 0-20 wt.% of the whole weight of the composition. The cosmetic composition is applied to the skin or keratin fibers such as hair to keep a hair style, wash, maintain or treat the skin, hair or the other keratin substance.
