PURPOSE: To provide a water purifier without the contaminant in the water to be purified being stuck because flocs are freshly formed at all times to purify water and capable of efficiently purifying water even in the long use by cleaning the filtration means and then conducting flocculation operation. CONSTITUTION: When a circulating pump 15 is operated in cleaning operation, the water in a bath 14 is sucked by the pump 15 from a return pipe 17, passed through a filter bed 18 from the lower part through a three-way valve 24 and a cleaning pipe 25 to bring up a granular filter medium 19 and purified. Consequently, the contaminant in the bath 14 accumulated on the filter medium 17 is discharged from a discharge pipe 27 through a valve 26, and the flocculation operation is immediately started under the instruction of a control part 81. Namely, the water in the bath 14 is sucked by the pump 15 from the return pipe 17 and passed through the bed 18 from the upper part through the three- way valve 24. A DC voltage is then impressed on the stainless steel electrode 21 and aluminum electrode 22, and hence aluminum hydroxide as flocculant is eluted to form the floc 44 which is accumulated on the filter medium 19. |
