PURPOSE: To facilitate the change of a water addition ratio according to a load state by a method wherein liquid having a center value lower than that of fuel, such as oil, water or alcohol, to the inlet of a mixer, in a diesel engine wherein emulsion fuel prepared by adding water to fuel is used. CONSTITUTION: When emulsion fuel is injected in the combustion chamber 5 of a diesel engine 1 by an injection valve 6, emulsion fuel prepared by a mixer 17 and fed with a pressure to the injection valve 6 by a circulation pump 19 is fed with the aid of a fuel pump 14 cam-driven by a drive shaft 13. The mixer 17 is connected to a line 16 on the inlet side, a fuel feed source 22 thereto through a line 23, a surface active agent tank 31 thereto through a line 30, and further a water tank 38 thereto through a line 44. Fuel, the surface active agent, and water, which are respectively metered, are mixed together and brought into an emulsion state. Surplus emulsion fuel by the fuel pump 14 is returned to the line 16 on the inlet side of the mixer 17 through a line 15. |
