GENE CAPABLE OF CODING NEW GLUTAMATE DEHYDROGENASE AND PRODUCTION OF GLUTAMATE DEHYDROGENASE USING THE SAME GENE

PURPOSE: To obtain a DNA fragment useful for mass-producing a high-purity glutamate dehydrogenase which is an enzyme for a clinical testing agent capable of measuring glutamic acid, ammonia, etc. CONSTITUTION: This gene contains a DNA coding for an amino acid sequence of the formula or an amino acid sequence in which a part of the amino acids are deficient or substituted or other amino acids are added thereto. Any of the above amino acids are capable of manifesting enzymic activities of the glutamate dehydrogenase and a DNA fragment which is the gene codes for the glutamate dehydrogenase. The gene is obtained by extraction thereof from a microbial cell of Pseudomonas sp. 433-3 (FERM P-14092) or chemical synthesis thereof.
