PURPOSE: To extremely easily and accurately perform positioning and centering work for connecting heavy and long material together so as to improve execution and economical efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A moving method for a long material includes a step of mounting a second long material P on the receiving base 34 of a truck 30 and moving the truck so as to bring the end of the second long material close to the end of a first long material and a step of aligning the position of the second long material with that of the first long material by moving the receiving base of the truck at least vertical or lateral direction relative to the first long material. The method further includes a step of temporarily connecting the ends of the first and second long materials to each other by a connecting means and transferring the second long material from the truck to a material receiver by lowering the receiving base of the truck after placing the material receiver below the temporarily connected second long material.
