PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly manufacture a cylindrical device consisting of a belt supported by a cylindrical support member by contracting the belt on the outer surface of the support drum, after the belt is circumferentially expanded by a pressurized flowing fluid and then the belt is slid on the support drum. SOLUTION: After a fluid is introduced into the hollow inside of a rigid cylindrical support drum 16 through an inlet conduit 82 and when it is discharged from the inside of the drum 16 through a hole 84, an image-forming belt 10 is slid on the drum 16. To assist the fitting of the belt 10 to the drum 16 when the fluid expands and extends the belt 10, twisting motion is given to the image-forming belt 10. Further, when the belt 10 is perfectly fitted onto the support drum 16, the flow of the fluid passing through the conduit 82 is finished or decreased, so that the belt 10 can be contracted onto the drum 16. The removal of the belt 10 from the drum 16 is carried out by pulling the belt 10 from the support drum 16 while the fluid is forcibly discharged from the hole 84. |
