PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce dot placement errors, pigment bleeding and the other problems in a printing apparatus which uses a plurality of ink jet printing means. SOLUTION: Different printing masks (77A, 77'A, 78A, 77B, 77'B and 78B) are applied to a first printing means (ink jet nozzle arrangement) of a first swath height and a second printing means of a second swath height, respectively. Dot placement errors caused by a difference in printing pitch when printing pitches are different among the plurality of printing means are reduced. Moreover, a sufficient time can be secured to dry pigments between printing one pigment and printing another pigment when the pigments are superposed on a medium, so that bleeding and the other undesired effects can be reduced. |
