PURPOSE: To provide a surface coating cermet-made end mill and a cutting tool having large bond strength of a coating layer formed in a surface of an edge point to eliminate apprehension of separation or the like further with a long life. CONSTITUTION: A coating layer 8 is formed by chemical evaporation in a surface of a cermet-made end mill base unit 7, and it contains 70 to 95wt.% hard dispersed phase containing a compound metal carbon nitride of one kind or more selected from Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Ta, Nb, W, Mo, with the rest part consisting of a binding phase mainly composed of Go and/or Ni. The coating layer 8 is formed by containing any one kind or more of carbide, nitride, oxide, carbon nitride and nitride carbonate of one kind or more selected from Ti and Al. |
