摘要 |
PURPOSE: To produce silica particles each uniformly coated with a hot melt type adhesive resin layer, ensuring satisfactory single dispersibility of particles and not causing the dissolution of the resin of the adhesive resin layer in a liq. crystal at the time of use as a gap material for a liq. crystal display cell. CONSTITUTION: Fine thermoplastic resin powder of <=1μm average particle diameter and silica particles of 1-10μm average particle diameter are dispersed in an aq. medium contg. 1-50wt.% water-soluble org. solvent and they are mixed to coat the surfaces of the silica particles with the thermoplastic resin powder. The solid component is separated from the aq. medium and dried and mechanical shear is applied to the resultant solid material to produce the objective silica particles having a laminated structure.
