METAL-BASED COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE: To enhance the adhesive strength of an iron plating layer and to obtain a metal-based composite material having high wear and seizing resistances. CONSTITUTION: A layer 2 of a composite material consisting of ADC12 alloy and alumina fibers is etched with an acid to expose part of the alumina fibers. The etched surface is electroplated with iron to form a mixed layer 3 consisting of the exposed alumina fibers and iron and an iron plating layer 4 is further laminated. The surface of the layer 4 is then finished by honing.
