PURPOSE: To facilitate the assembling work by providing a deformed oblong hole on the locking lever of a car door locking device so that no exciting force is applied when a turnover spring is fitted. CONSTITUTION: A deformed oblong hole 37 is provided on a locking lever 31 interlocked with an open lever rotating a lift lever provided in a resin housing storing a latch mechanism. The end section 35b (coupling projection) of a turnover spring 35 (exciting member) provided between the housing and the locking lever 31 is coupled with the deformed oblong hole 37. The end section 35b is arranged so that no exciting force is applied to the spring 35 according to the position of the locking lever 31. The turnover spring 35 is not required to be pressed when it is assembled. The assembling work of the turnover spring 35 can be easily conducted.
