摘要 PURPOSE: To readily produce an E-alcohol derivative in side chain double bond to be an intermediate for an E-isomer in the side chain of chrysanthemum- dicarboxylic acid or its ester compound at a low cost without using selenium dioxide which is a heavy metal and has high toxicity. CONSTITUTION: The characteristic of this method for producing 2,2- dimethyl-3-[(E)-2-hydroxymethy]-1-propenylcyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid or its ester compound comprises reacting chrysanthemum-monocarboxylic acid or its ester compound with a microorganism having the ability to selectively oxidize terminal methyl group located on the side opposite to the cyclopropane ring in relation to the side chain double bond of chrysanthemum-monocarboxylic acid or a residue thereof and converting the terminal methyl group into hydroxymethyl group or a treated substance of the microorganism and converting the chrysanthemum-monocarboxylic acid or its ester compound into the 2,2-dimethyl-3-[(E)-2-hydroxymethyl-1-propenyl]cyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid or its ester compound.
