The apparatus and method controls the stop clock of an Intel SL central processing unit (CPU) so as to reduce the consumption power of the SL CPU and enable the SL CPU in a stop state. The apparatus comprises: an idle detector generating an output signal unless there has been an input signal for a set time; a processor transmitting a signal for interrupting the stop clock; the SL CPU setting or releasing a stop clock interrupt mode according to the signal of the processor.
