FIELD: nondestructive testing. SUBSTANCE: invention may be used to detect flaws in extended object, for example, in pipe of pipe-line transport. Article or section of article is magnetized. Magnetic fields formed above flaws are detected with the aid of pickups positioned above tested surface. Distribution of magnetic lines of force, that is "image" of field above flaw is plotted by signals from pickups which are compared with "images" of fields stored in computer. Complete characteristics is given to flaw by results of comparison, by parameters of "image" of field above flaw (characteristic points, distances between them, angles of inclinations of tangents to magnetic lines). EFFECT: enhanced sensitivity and reliability of test of pipes and other extended objects. 1 cl, 6 dwg |
