Treatment and dispensing plant for drinking water comprises an enclosed housing (1) with a water inlet (2) and a treatment (7,8) system which supplies a dispenser (12a,12b) with water, the latter being accessible from the outside. The housing is pref. thermally insulated and equipped with an air conditioning system (3,4,5) and the treatment system contains a reverse-osmosis unit (8). Purified water can be obtd. by placing a receptacle in the niche under an outlet and inserting coins or a magnetic or electronic card to pay for it.
