The fireproof flap consists of a body and a clapper (7) pivoted on an axis (8) in bearings. To hold the flap open, the axis of the clapper is equipped with a lever (9) encountering a blade (10) pivotable about a parallel axis (11). Between this and a parallel blade (12), a slug (13) of fusible metal or shape memory alloy responds to a significant rise in temperature by releasing the lever. To hold the pivotable blade in a set position, a rod (14) fixed to it at one end is controlled by an electromagnet (15).
