FIELD: nuclear power plants primarily those with water-cooled tank reactors. SUBSTANCE: nuclear power plant has primary/secondary-circuit heat exchanger 5 and nuclear reactor whose robust vessel 1 incorporates self-contained sectional head exchanger 3 for emergency cooling of primary circuit with its natural and/or forced circulation. The latter statement shows that primary coolant circulation through emergency heat exchanger 3 takes place unidirectional in both forced and natural circulation methods which provides for reliable and fast starting of heat exchanger 3 in emergency situations. Casings 6 of heat exchangers 5 connected to reactor vessel 1 and emergency-cooling heat exchanger 3 built in reactor vessel 1 are spaced apart through height so that at least main joints 19 of seals in casings 6 of heat exchangers 5 and/or pipe connections 20 for repair inspections of their type systems are placed above bottom end of tube systems in sections of emergency-cooling heat exchanger 3. This minimal elevation of some structural members of plant above other ones should ensure reliable passive cooling of plunged core 2 during repair opening of main joints 19 in casing 6 of heat exchangers 5 in primary circuit of plant, and in addition, reliable redundancy of standard active repair cooling system is provided in case of its failure or disconnection.
