The process for the preparation of aromatic polyamide pulp comprising: a) preparing a polymerization solvent comprising an amide type organic solvent, an urea type organic solvent or a mixture thereof followed by obtaining an liquid crystalline prepolymer by dissolving an aromatic diamine in the polymerization solvent and adding an aromatic diacid chloride to the solution; (b) carrying out a preliminary gelation by free falling the liquid crystalline prepolymer into a rotary type vessel through an delivery opening; c) aging the gelated prepolymer in the vessel; (d) washing the obtained polymer with water or alkali solution and pulverizing. The aromatic polyamide pulp has homopolymer or copolymer type having a repeat unit shown in the following structure formula(I) or (II). In the formula, R1, R2 and R3 are aromatic group selected from the following structure formula(III). X is hydrogen, chloride, bromide, iodide, C1-C4 alkyl or alkoxy. Y is CH3CO, SO2, -O-, CH3CCH3.
