Installation for the prepn. of animal foodstuffs comprises a series of silos (1-3) for storing raw ingredients, which empty into a mixer (4); a vessel (8) for steam-cooking the mixed ingredients; drying and cooling means (31); and means for storing cooked prod. before distribution. Also claimed is use of the installation for preparing animal feedstuffs from plant and/or animal prod. raw materials, in granular or powder form; and the animal feedstuffs themselves.
