The device for mounting components on a substrate comprises a conveyor provided with substrates, moving in a direction (X) towards a head at a station where the components are put in position. The head has an arm (22) which is displaceable in the longitudinal direction (X) and a block which is displaceable in the transverse direction (Y) along the length of the arm. The block has a device for lifting a component from one of several magazines and placing in on the substrate. An optical analysis machine is fixed to the arm, such that the component passes through the field of view of the optical appliance in the course of its movement into place on the substrate.
