Determining precipitation structure of graphite present in melt, esp. cast iron, before casting

A sample of the melt is taken. A part of the sample is poured into a first receptacle, while another part of the sample is poured into a second receptacle which contains an agent modifying the structure of graphite. The cooling curves of these sample parts are determined, and their position is compared with a reference curve to determine the graphite precipitation structure. Also claimed is an appts. for implementation of the method.
