An automated process is used for producing folded items from sheets of paper extracted singly from a stack [22] by a suction feed and then fed in sequence through a number of linked folding stations [12, 14, 16, 18]. The machine may be operated in a normal speed mode or in a slower mode for setting purposes. Each station of the process has a control console [29] and these are linked to a central controller. The individual consoles allow the conditions for each station of the machine to be correctly obtained before going to the full synchronised production cycle.
