<p>An apparatus and process are provided for transferring molten metal. The apparatus includes a vessel (10) having a cylindrical wall (12), a closed end (11), and an open end including a spout (16) from which molten metal can be discharged from the vessel (10). An opening (23) is provided in the cylindrical wall (12) for pouring molten metal into the vessel (10). The cylindrical wall (12), the closed end (11), and the spout (16) define an enclosure for holding molten metal. The process employs the vessel (10) as described above for holding molten metal. The vessel (10) is positioned adjacent to a first processing station containing molten metal from which molten metal is cast into the vessel (10). The molten metal is then transported to a second processing station in the vessel and discharged from the vessel (10) directly into the second processing station for further processing.</p> |
