Simultaneous reproduction of coloured still pictures on screen

A reference palette of colours is generated from a reference image for permanent or temporary storage at the receiver. Where colour-reduced images are involved the colour assignments of the pixels of the pictures to be reproduced are re-calculated from the values of the individual colour palettes to the value of the reference palette. Pictures with reference colour assignments are transmitted and reproduced with the aid of the stored reference palette, which may be generated from images having particularly critical colours.
