Polyphenylene ether resin materials with improved impact strength

Polyphenylene ether (PPE) resin materials (I) contg. (A) a PPE resin, (B) a dispersed, gel-contg. copolymer (B), obtd. by graft copolymerisation of an alkenyl-aromatic monomer onto a conjugated diene rubber with a vol.-average particle dia. (VAPD) (dB) of 3.2 mu m or less, and (C) a dispersed copolymer (C), obtd. by graft copolymerisation of an alkenyl-aromatic monomer onto an ethylene/ alpha -olefin copolymer rubber with a VAPD (dC) of 0.6 mu or less, and/or (D) a dispersed A-B-A 3-block copolymer rubber with styrene resin blocks at both ends and a central rubber block with a mol. wt. (Mn) of 50,000 or more and a VAPD (dD) of 0.6 mu or less. Material (I) contains at least one of the components (C), (D), and the wt. ratio of the gel in (B) to the rubbers in (C) and/or (D) = 5/95-80/20.
