Separator with ceramic ballast bed used to clean combustion gases before they pass to gas turbine

A device to generate combustion gases under high pressure and temperature uses pulverised coal firing and a subsequent liquid slag separator. Following the latter is a safety separator with a ceramic ballast bed that can be exchanged while the unit is operating. The ballast of the separator has adsorption properties to form gaseous alkali and heavy metal compounds. The separator has a working chamber connected with a reservoir for the ceramic filling above the gas inlet and below the chamber there is a discharge chamber with a gate valve. A slider allows the movement of the ceramic material into this discharge chamber. The seat (16) can have electric heating or alternatively an additional burner.
