An appts. for measuring out quantities of bulk solid materials includes a storage vessel (2) on top of a discharging device (4), a number of different vessels and discharging devices being available and combinable with each other to meet the requirements of different types and quantities of the measured material. The combination sits on a weighing module (10) which is capable of determining its total wt.. The empty weights of the available vessels and discharging devices are all known in advance, and are such that no two combinations have the same total wt.. These total weights are stored electronically in the control system (13) and compared with the actual total wt. of a newly installed combination after an exchange of components.
