The invention concerns microemulsion gels based on oil-in-water type microemulsions, in which the droplets of the discontinuous oil phase are linked to one another by one or more cross-linking agents the molecules of which are characterised by having at least one hydrophilic region of an extent sufficient to bridge the usual gap between microemulsion droplets, and at least one hydrophobic region which can enter into hydrophobic interaction with the microemulsion droplets.
