Electrical connector for containers on board ship

A device for connecting electrical sockets on containers on board a ship has a housing with at least one connector which has a base coupling that is plugged into a housing coupling(13). This is in the region of a carrying element (12) for the housing. The housing has guide rails (11) for the connector and there is a mechanically released lock to make secure the joint between the couplings. The base coupling has plug-shaped electrical contacts and the housing coupling has bush-shaped contacts. Alternatively the base coupling may have the bush-shaped ones and the housing coupling may have the plug-shaped ones.
