Plus-minus keying type gear-change for motor vehicle

The switch panel is arranged on a steel tube in front of the driver to one side. The panel contains two, or at most three buttons. The button with a plus sign changes up a gear. The button with a minus sign changes down a gear. The third button can be for reverse gear. It is not however necessary to have a third button. The minus button may also cover reverse gear. After actuating the ignition key, an optical display on the dashboard shows idle state. If the driver presses the plus button, the display indicates first gear. At a higher speed the driver presses the plus button again and the display indicates second gear etc. When slowing down, the driver presses the minus button the change to lower gears.
