AUTOMOTIVE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM AND METHOD

A fluid supply system provides hydraulic fluid to a series combination of an automotive fan motor (22) and a power steering unit (23). There is a bypass line (40) around the fan motor (22) for prioritizing the operation of the power steering unit (23). A normally closed pressure sequencing valve (41) opens the bypass line (40) when the pressure across the overall series combination exceeds a predetermined limit. Optional second and third bypass lines (49, 52) are disclosed for respectively bypassing either the power steering unit (23) or the fan motor (22) in case of abnormal conditions therein.
