The salts are prepared by reacting a benzhydrylamine of the formula I (or a salt thereof) with clavulanic acid (or a salt thereof) in an organic solvent, and isolating the resulting salt. In formula I, each of R<1> and R<2> is hydrogen (preferred) or an acceptable substituent. <CHEM> The clavulanic acid salts can be used in pharmaceutical formulations together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, and, optionally, a beta-lactam antibiotic. |
