Fuel supply system for vehicle IC engine - has vapour tank under vacuum carried over intake manifold for heat exchange

The system has a tank (10) for contg. fuel vapour, and a conduit (14) connecting the tank to a vapour equaliser (16) mounted on the intake manifold (18). The engine vacuum draws in vapour from the tank. The equaliser (16) has a first air inlet valve (22) and distributes the correct air/vapour mixture to the engine. The tank (10) has a second air inlet valve (12). Filters positioned in the vapour equaliser retard the flow of fuel vapour to the engine, so that an extremely lean mixture is eventually supplied to the engine. The filter may be carbon particles and include a sponge collection of e.g. neoprene fibres. The system obviates the need for a conventional carburettor, fuel pump and petrol tank and vastly increases mileage rates e.g. over 100 mpg for a V8 engine.
