PURPOSE:To prepare a differential medium capable of discriminating Candida albicans from Candida glabrata by adding a tetrazolium derivative and a yeast extract to Sabouraud's agar medium containing a coloring matter. CONSTITUTION:A tetrazolium compound of the formula (R1, R2 and R3 may independently contain lower alkyl or halogen as substituent group; X is an acid residue) (except 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride) and a yeast extract are added to Sabouraud's agar medium containing a coloring matter. An existing state of fungi can be discriminated by color tone of colony on the medium. |
