MOTION DETECTOR

PURPOSE: To realize the motion detector in which mis-detection and non- detection are reduced to improve the performance of motion adaptive processing. CONSTITUTION: A composite video signal is delayed by one frame period at a 1st delay circuit 102. An output of the 1st delay circuit is delayed further by one frame period at a 2nd delay circuit 103. A subtractor circuit 108 and an absolute value processing circuit 109 are used to calculate a difference between two frames. A discrimination circuit 104 discriminates a signal state of the composite video signal by using the input of the 1st delay circuit 102 and an output signal of the 2nd delay circuit 103, being consecutive 3-frame signals. A changeover circuit 107 switches to select an output of a constant generating circuit 105 or 106 under the control of an output result of the discrimination circuit 104 and provides an output of the selected signal. A comparator circuit 110 compares the difference between two frames with the output from the changeover circuit 107 to output a motion detection signal.
