PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give a viewer the right to select a program by defining a temporary channel and continuing a 1st program over the temporary channel, and interrupting the 1st program and transmitting a 2nd program over a 1st channel. SOLUTION: A server 120 obtains a program of a movie, news, etc., from a source such as a programming center 121 or program library 122. A processor 302 processes the movie, etc., and sends it to a viewer through a head-end device 101. When an instruction for providing short-time news, etc., over the 1st channel (CH) while providing the movie over the 1st CH is received from the center 121, a server 120 defines the temporary CH for a block 306 in response to the instruction. The 1st program is carried on over the temporary CH and news is transmitted over the 1st CH by quitting the movie. Consequently, the viewer can view the movie over the temporary CH. |
