<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively perform electron emission by providing a first electrode of a cathode conductor on an insulating base plate, providing a second electrode to function as a grid and holes on an insulating layer for covering the cathode conductor, and manufacturing an electron source including micro-heaps such as carbon diamond. SOLUTION: A first electrode 4 composed of at least one cathode conductor is provided on an insulating base plate 2, and an insulating layer 6 for covering the cathode conductor is formed. A second electrode 8 to function as an electro- conductive grid layer for covering the insulating layer 6 is provided. Holes 10 are formed above the cathode conductor through the insulating layer and the grid layer 8. The holes 10 are formed as elements for emitting electrons by electrophoresis by micro-heaps 12 containing diamond grains such as a diamond or carbon layer. Therefore, electron emission is efficiently performed by the micro-heaps 12.</p> |
