PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an output image having accurate hue reproducibility by providing a memory means in which a plurality of spline coefficients showing the sensitometric characteristics inherent to a printing medium are stored to the printing medium used in a printer formed so as to constitue a sensitometric curve from a plurality of the spline coefficients. SOLUTION: In a colorant donor medium cassette 10 used in a thermal transfer printer wherein the printing element of a printing head is selectively heated to transfer a colorant an ink from a (colorant) donor medium to a (colorant) receiving medium, a sensitometric information part having a form of a bar code 14 is formed to the side surface part 12 of the cassette 10. At this time, when a sensitometry curve is calculated, a sectional definition function said to be a spline enabling the restoration of the whole of the sensitometry curve from a plurality of paired input value-output value is used to search one set of the input values in a table holding an objective input value, and the straight line connecting two corresponding points represented by the paired input value- output value in the table is calculated to lead out an output value. |
