PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow handling of corrosive liquid/gas in a pipeline constructed via a pipe joint using an electric fusion fitting. SOLUTION: A joint 80 is constructed of an electric fusion fitting 10 having two truncated cone outside end faces matching similar faces on the inside of end parts of liners 54, 56. Fusion welded joint is formed at the interface between the frusto-conical faces. A main body 66 of an insulator is received in a central recess part 16 in the fitting 10 for protecting the fitting 10 from high temperature of a seam 70 between steel tubes 50, 52. Each of the frusto-conical faces 30, 32 makes an angle of less than 10 deg. to the longitudinal axial line of the fitting 10. By means of a metallic/synthetic plastic support body 14 included in the electric fusion fitting 10, the fitting 10 is surely supported during electric fusion. |
