PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain accurate measurement data by forming an X-ray image of an anode on a photographic film having its density and dimensions calibrated, and converting this image into a digital image signal and analyzing it by a video camera. SOLUTION: A master film is formed by generating an X-ray image of a staircase-like metal gage on a fine-grained film having high sensitivity to X rays. The master film 50 is placed on a film support 40, lit by a homogeneous light source 10 such as a white light lamp, and photographed by a video camera 20, whose image is converted by an image processor into a digital image signal. A calibration curve to a density range of, for example, 0.2 to 2.5 of the film image, e.g. a calibration curve for image pixel size of 0.1 mm precision is generated. The X-ray image of the anode of the object X-ray tube is enlarged and photographed on a film having the same characteristics with the master film by a pinhole camera. The digital image obtained by photographing the film 50 of the anode X-ray image by the video camera 20 is analyzed by referring to the calibration curve obtained with the master film.
