PURPOSE: To obtain a fire retardant resin composition excellent in heat resistance, impact resistance and heat stability during molding and greatly improved in dripping phenomena during burning by using a polybromostyrene having both a number average molecular weight and a molecular weight distribution in specific ranges. CONSTITUTION: This flame retardant resin composition comprises (A) 50-96.9wt.% nylon 4, 6, (B) 3-45wt.% polybromostyrene obtained by polymerizing bromostyrene and having 1×10<4> to 9×10<4> number average molecular weight (Mn) and <=5 Mw/Mn (Mw is a weight average molecular weight) and (C) 0.1-5wt.% dripping protecting agent (e.g. ethylene-glycidyl dimethacrylate copolymer, etc.). Preferably the resin composition can contain 1-200 pts.wt. inorganic filler (e.g. glass fiber, etc.) based on 100 pts.wt. of the sum total of the components A, B and C.
