METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR JUDGING/CODING POSITION OF REVERSERCONTROL HANDLE EQUIPPED IN RAILROAD TRANSPORTATION VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position determining and encoding method and apparatus of a reverser control handle on the locomotive control stand which is simplified and reliable in the structure and can be installed easily at a lower cost. SOLUTION: Position of a reverser control handle provided on the control stand of a railway vehicle such as a locomotive having the reverser control handle mounted to a shaft 10 which can partially rotated for the predetermined range of angle is determined and encoded. For this purpose, the apparatus includes a pair of fixed signal output sensors 14 and a pair of sensor operation members 32 fixed to the shaft to partially rotate together with the shaft. Consequently, each of a pair of sensor operation members 32 is located approximately to each of the signal output sensors and the partial rotation of the shaft 10 of the control handle in the predetermined direction is detected with one signal output sensor to generate a first signal, while the partial rotation of shaft 10 of the control handle in the opposite direction is detected with the other signal output sensor to generate a second signal.
