PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device attenuating high dimension mode of vibration of a rotor blade for turbine engine rotor assembly. SOLUTION: This rotor blade 14 has a root, an airfoil 18, a platform, and an apparatus 22, for damping vibration of the blade. The airfoil 18 includes a pocket formed in a chordwise surface 28. The apparatus 22 for damping vibrations in the blade includes a damper 34 and a pocket lid 36. The damper 34 is received within the pocket between an inner surface 32 of the pocket 26 and the pocket lid 36. The pocket lid 36 is attached to the airfoil 18 by an attachment means, for example, welding and contoured to match the curvature of the airfoil 18 at its outer surface 48.
