PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refracting focus and/or light re-collimation without any spherical aberration. SOLUTION: Light is made incident on an elliptical optical plane 102 formed to separate the first and the second homogeneous optical media 104 and 106 from each other, and a collimated light beam 108 is directed so as to be completely focused at a main focal point in the second medium 106 within the first medium 104, or at a virtual focal point within the first medium 104. For example, the optical plane has an elliptical optical system with a collimated input light plane and an output optical plane having an axis common to both ingress and refraction. Also, this elliptical optical plane is combined with the second optical plane so as to have a common axis and to be separated from each other through an optically transmissive medium.
