PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new type transparent substrate, in particular, a glass substrate coated with a laminate of thin layers having at least one metal layer having properties in the infrared range. SOLUTION: This substrate 1 has a metal layer 4 having properties in the infrared region, a first coating 8 comprising a dielectric material provided under the metal layer 4, a second coating 9 comprising a dielectric material provided on the metal layer 4 and a protective metal layer 5 provided just above the layer 4 in a contact state. The second coating 9 contains at least one barrier layer 7 to the diffusion of oxygen with a thickness of at least 10 nm comprising a component selected from a silicon compd. such as SiO2 , SiOx Cy , SiOx Ny or Si3 N4 , nitride like AlN and carbide such as SiC, TiC, CrC or TaC and the layer 4 is in direct contact with the dielectric coating thereunder. |
